Welcome to My Nightmare

MelBivDevoe

That horrifying header image comes from today's nightmare fodder, "50 Shades of Ray."  I may never have another sexual fantasy again.  Ever.

Fans of "Community" and/or "Doctor Who" will love this video - the first episode of "Inspector Spacetime" - wait, no, due to copyright issues, it's called "Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time."  Whatever, it's still super nerdy and fun! (Nerd Approved)

Can you imagine a "Titanic" that starred Jeremy Sisto (of "Clueless" and "Suburgatory") instead of Leo DiCaprio??  This screen test shows what could have been - and it's just plain weird to see someone else in Leo's place.  Sisto definitely brings a different energy to the role of Jack.  (Vulture)

Ah, fashion.  There have been some strange trends in the past, like this one from the 1940's.  Why didn't the monocle veil ever catch on?  Oh, right.  Because it looks dumb.  (Neatorama)

Octopus Spurs You to Glory with Hot Links

MelBivDevoe

The US Olympians have certainly been bringing home the glory with their amazing achievements - Gabby Douglas, Missy Franklin, the Williams sisters and many others have been smashing records and making history with their wins.  But sometimes merely qualifying for the Olympics is a win in itself - just ask Oscar Pistorius of South Africa.  (HuffPo)

Also glorious?  These images from MTV's "House of Style."  You can almost hear Jon Stewart thinking "What the hell am I doing here?" in the third photo.  (Buzzfeed)

Things That Make Us Go Hmmm: I Said Chill Baby Baby Chill Baby Baby Wait

Metric Jenn

Look, if I have to suffer through this song in my head, the least I can do is burden the rest of you with it, too. Now that you've got the rhythm and the rhyme, here are today's fun-fun links!

Gail Vaz-Oxlade is Canada's financial guru. She's a no B-S lady who helps out people (like me) who have no idea how to manage money and get out of debt. Check her out. Seriously, folks. (Gail Vaz-Oxlade)

Do you watch The Big Bang Theory? I know some people don't like it, but I find Sheldon to be absolutely delightful, and my friend tells me I exhibit some of his characteristics. If this is true, then I should start dressing like him. (SheldonShirts)

Pantyhose: Not That Great Actually

Girl With A Curious Life, Guest Contributor

Chances are, you don't know me very well so I thought I'd tell you a few things about myself: I love my spastic dog, who is currently sleeping on my lap like he owns me. I am the vainest person I know, after my grandmother. I hate pantyhose with a passion that is usually reserved for oven scrubbing and moldy grout (also things I hate passionately). Fortunately for me, there are chemical products that help me avoid moldy grout and I have minimized my use of the oven so I no longer have to scrub it. Pantyhose? They still haunt me like the vindictive bastard accessories that they are.

In Defense of Pantyhose: Rusty Explains Her Shiny Choice

Rusty

Pantyhose have gotten thrown under the bus this decade. Mostly categorized as something you’re forced to wear to church or when your grandmother visits, it seems that an awful lot of women are comfortable with discarding pantyhose (or stockings) in favor of their younger, cooler cousin, tights. Fashion gurus like Tim Gunn have said there is no reason to EVER wear sheer or nude pantyhose.

I disagree.

Here are my arguments in favor of pantyhose:

InStyle Magazine for February: Barrymore, Louboutins, and Boredom

Pinky McLadybits

Drew Barrymore is InStyle's February 2012 cover girl. While looking for a nice photo of the cover to share with all of you, I found that Barrymore is engaged. Again. Dude, I still thought she was dating Justin Long. These guys really jump the gun on trying to lock these actresses down. Dumbasses.

I would also like to go on record as saying that I hate Drew's hair. I really hate that this whole "purposely dark roots and lighter ends" thing has gone from trailer to chic. Ombre? Whatevs.

Anyway, this month's cover proclaims SEXIER BY TONIGHT: 10 SHORTCUTS TO HOT! THE NEW RULES OF FIGURE FLATTERY! 20 SUPER AMAZING SHOES! INSTANTLY DOUBLE YOUR WARDROBE OPTIONS!

They really need to get someone over the age of 14 to write their cover blurbs. And maybe invest in some lowercase letters. Please and thank you.

The Sign That Fashion Has Completely Given Up?

Author: Park

Fashion is cyclical.  What this is supposed to mean is that styles from past generations influence future styles in new and intriguing ways.  What it seems to actually mean is that styles come back almost exactly the same as they were when you were a kid, but stupider and more unattractive.  The circular pattern appears to be not so much a life cycle as the imminent approach to a giant drain.  If the pattern continues, in a few years we’ll be walking around in snuggies, but made of the cheapest fabric imaginable and they’ll somehow be cut really slutty.

I couldn't agree more
