Joico Leave-In Detangler: Happy Happy Joy Joy?
Metric Jenn
Hey all, it's Metric Jenn here, once again! Now, I'm not going to lie...this review sat up in my brain, brewing away because I wasn't sure how to properly convey how this product works, not to mention how I felt about it. And so the image that you see of darling Ren & Stimpy may be a a macguffin...OR IS IT?
YOU MUST READ TO FIND OUT...after the jump!

Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment: Hair You Go!
Dixie
Florida gets a winter. Know how I know? It was cold as hell earlier this month, with freeze warnings in parts of my area. And with the cold weather comes dry air. The kind of dry air that sucks the moisture out of my hair and causes it to tangle into a dreadlock at the nape of my neck.To avoid my little dreadlock, I have to put a ton of moisture back into my hair. As Live Curly Live Free says, well-moisturized hair should be free of tangles. My hair never seems to reach that level of moisturization but the closest it comes is when I use the Ojon damage reverse Restorative Hair Treatment. Think of it as the super-fancy version of the Alberto VO5 treatment.

Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Cream
Pinky McLadybits
I was chosen to receive an Influenster Beauty VoxBox again. One of the items I received was this Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Cream. This is a very good thing since I am terrible about choosing products to help me tame my thick, slightly wavy, totally uncooperative hair. I was so happy to have the chance to try something without paying for it.
My hair ends up frizzy after drying regardless of the season and with the cold weather I end up blow drying more. Blow drying frizzes me out too. I've tried other smoothing techniques and serums, so I had a feeling it would probably be a miracle if this stuff worked.

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin: Spin For Me, Baby
Pinky McLadybits
I have only two hairstyles: ponytail and flat-ironed. My hair is super-thick, slightly wavy, and an asshole that resists cute styles that other people are able to wear. If I make a huge effort, play around for at least an hour or more, and use a butt-ton of bobby pins, I can wrangle my hair into something cute for a few hours.
Yes, only a few hours. After my wedding, bobby pins were shooting from my hair and pinging into the cabs windows and seats. That's how thick my stupid hair is, y'all. BOBBY PIN EXTRACTING THICK!
I was stoked when I received this Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin set from Influenster in my Fall VoxBox. I've been wanting to try these but have been wary of spending the money and having them unable to bear the weight of my hair.

Birchbox Treats: Ojon Damage Reverse (TM) Restorative Conditioner
Nora
This creamy, light conditioner, Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Conditioner, was in my very first Birchbox order, but, like the fool I am, I didn't use it until a month or so after I received it. I was a little put off by the "damage reverse" part of the name. See, I'm an odd combination of proud and lazy. I use very little product, if ever, and I really only blow dry my hair once a month. So my initial reaction to Ojon was "How DARE you insinuate I need your damage reverse technology!", followed by a glove slap across the neck of the bottle. After some time, though, I was able to admit that I've been growing my hair out for the better part of a year, and my ends are gross and prone to dryness. Instead of getting a haircut, I opted to try out this nifty little conditioner.

Redken Fresh Curls: Fresh Hell.
After going to the salon last year in Ottawa, I was enchanted with my hair colour and style. It was bouncy! Healthy! My god...it's been almost 20 months since I got my hair cut! I should just shave my head! EXCLAMATIONS!!!
Anyhow, the woman did such an amazing job, that I wanted to treat my hair right, to maintain this fabulousness as long as humanly possible. This time, I thought, I'm doing it RIGHT. So when the stylist suggested a product called Redken - both shampoo and conditionner at 26$ each, I willingly forked over the cash. That's right, 52$. Because I have a real knack for throwing money down the drain. Literally. Watching the suds (or lack thereof - but I'll get to that) slip down the drain was like watching my dolla billz find their way to the sewers.

Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo: No Flakes Allowed
![]() |
| Image from headandshoulders.com |
Ok, confession time. We all have embarrassing issues that we'd rather not broadcast to the world. Halitosis, acne, body odor - things we have to deal with but would rather not talk about. Myself, I fight with dandruff, especially during the winter months.
It's embarrassing, but I've found a product that keeps this problem in check, so I'm breaking my silence to share my findings with you, dear reader. I'm such a peach that way sometimes.

Head & Shoulders has been fighting flakes for decades, but they've also expanded their line to include shampoos that help fight frizz, oil, dry scalp, and much more. I've discovered that their Smooth & Silky shampoo is perfect for someone like me with thick, wavy hair.

Hairscapades: Infusium 23 Shampoo & Conditioner
Guess who misjudged her grocery and personal hygiene budget this past paycheque? Yeah. I'm a bloody genius sometimes. And so, when I found myself completely out of shampoo and conditioner with only 19$ to spend for the next 8 days, I was in a complete tizzy. Except replace the word tizzy with infuriated rage at my idiocy.
I was forced into shopping at the lowest of the low shops....the dreaded Zellers. Which is like one step up from Giant Tiger, a store that imported fake Colgate toothpaste from China which contained the same chemicals found in anti-freeze. Awesome.

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo Spray: Lazy Girl's Best Friend!
Pinky McLadybits
Is there a law that says dry shampoo sprays have to smell like concentrated ass? Is there a reason they all smell like they're seeking out brain cells to terrorize? If I knew anyone that huffed, I would expect them to steal the tiny can of Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo, attempt to huff it, and become immediately catatonic because it smells so very, very bad.
So there's that. Which is not good.
I scored the tiny, 1.4 ounce can with rewards points from Ulta. As you know, my foray into the inexpensive dry shampoo, Salon Grafix, did not go well. It stunk too and, even worse, didn't work. So I used my reward to get this little can.

Trends We'll Never Stop Loving: MelBiv's Gonna Bang 'Til She Dies
MelBivDevoe
When it comes to beauty and fashion, trends tend to come and go quickly. One day everyone's obsessing over skinny jeans. Then the next day, skinny jeans are out and leggings are all the rage. Fads change fast, but sometimes you find a look that works so perfectly you just can't give it up, even if it goes "out of style" at some point.
For me, the one beauty trend I'll never give up is my bangs.

Roux Clean Touch Haircolor Remover: A Miracle Product for a Spaz Like Me
MelBivDevoe
I've stated before my distaste for using regular hair dye (as opposed to hair color mousse). A large part of that is due to my own clumsiness - a tendency to drip or smear the dye on my clothes... or the furniture... or the walls/floors/etc. And yet, I continue to use dye, because it's cheaper and I am nothing if not a tightwad.
So thank goodness that Roux Clean Touch Haircolor Stain Remover exists, because it allows a spaz like myself to continue dyeing my hair at home without also dyeing everything else in sight.

Orchid Not Included: Tousle Me Softly Mousse
Rusty
I’ve never been an overly hair-oriented girl because I’ve never been able to do much with my hair. It’s incredibly fine and so straight that most efforts to style it fall flat in a couple of hours. However, as I’ve gotten older and a little more bold with my efforts I have made some progress.
I can now consistently blow dry my hair in such a way that it looks slightly fluffy and ‘done’ without too much trouble. One of the things that helps me accomplish this is Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly mousse.

No Moaning In The Shower: Herbal Essences "Hello, Hydration!" Shampoo
Figgy
If you've ever taken a look at my bio, you'll know that I hate my hair. Unlike some lucky people in my family, I didn't inherit my mother's thick, lustrous black hair. Instead I was saddled with my dad's thin, floppy, blah head of hair. I've never been able to do a damned thing to it. Ponytails slip off, barrettes never stay on, any styling disappears after two hours (the stylist for my wedding used what I swear was a whole can of hairspray and it was still gone after a few hours) and it'll get greasy if I so much as touch it too many times in a day. I also have to wash it every single morning or it'll look absolutely disgusting. It's a nightmare.
I have tried every shampoo out there. From the cheap Tresmmes to the really fancy crap, and none of them have worked in the long term. They'll either dry it and make it even floppier and lifeless, or just coat it in yet another layer of grease.

Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo: Y U NO CLEAN?
Pinky McLadybits
I was running low on my dry shampoo spray and decided to see what I could find, as I wasn't that keen on my Umberto. Do you know how difficult it is to find dry shampoo in a place like Target? It's not like they have a dry shampoo section. Everything is with its own brand and some brands don't have dry shampoo. Some do, but they suck (Suave Essentials Dry Shampoo). Others are hella expensive.
I finally stumbled upon Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo. I'd never even heard of it before. At all. It did promise no residue, which caught my eye along with the low price. I hate looking like I just dried my hair with a cocaine-covered towel and then left the house. So gross.

I abhor camping. Bugs, noises, people farting in the tent, animals threatening to steal your stuff, no thank you. For those of you that do enjoy camping, here is a way to build a simple camping stove with a log, a saw, and some newspaper. (Lifehacker)
I had never seen a James Bond movie until Daniel Craig and his fine ass filled out the role. Of course, I knew about Mr. Bond's amazing, beautiful, extremely fast cars. A United Kingdom exhibit, and this link, allows you to stare at all of Bond's sexy cars. (Wired)
Are you in the market for a new gadget or three? I find that when I research an upcoming gadget purchase there are too many opinions out there and not enough facts. Here is a breakdown of the best gadgets, from cell phones to home theater receivers. With cited sources! (The Wirecutter)

Tweezer Pleaser - Tweezerman Slant Tweezers
Vee
I am blessed to have my father's eyebrows. In my natural state it looks like two caterpillers crawled across my forehead and stopped right above my eyes (thanks, Dad!). I've plucked, waxed and threaded them down to about half their original glory, but I have a lot of maintenence in the old eyebrow area.
I tried countless drugstore tweezers from Revlon to those knock off cheapies. About 10 years ago I finally bit the bullet and bought the most expensive ones, the $20 Tweezerman Slant Tweezers . Ladies, I've never regreted it. These little guys are my eyebrow tool holy grail.

Féria Multi-Faceted Shimmering Colour - Metric Jenn Dyes Her Hair the Old-Fashioned Way
Metric Jenn
Merry post-holiday over-binging guilt, everyone! Metric Jenn here to take your mind off of your aching gut and focus it on the trials and tribulations of dying one's hair the old-fashioned way: mixing chemicals in a squeeze tube and ruining a shirt (also due to a rogue squirt, a square of parquet flooring and my white bathroom door).
Now you're all probably thinking that because of this opening that I'm going to rag on this product...well stay tuned, dear reader, because I'm giving this product a fair shake despite my clumsiness during application.

Avon Advanced Techniques Frizz Control Lotus Shield: Results May Vary
Pinky McLadybits
I think I've said this before, but I used to sell Avon. As recently as a few months ago, in fact. It doesn't make me any more enamored with their products, I can tell you that much. The cute boots I bought last year but haven't really worn until this year? Falling apart. Their Magix Face Perfecting Primer? Peeled the skin off my face. So, I'm going to tell you the truth about this Avon Advanced Techniques Frizz Control Lotus Shield.
First, THE NAME IS TOO DAMN LONG. All these beauty products with long-ass names, STOP IT. I HATE IT.
