I'm Gonna Wash That Stuff Right Outta My Head: Neti Pot

Nepoleanita

When I'm having a bad allergy attack or when I have a cold, one of the things I frequently wish for is the ability to take my face off and rinse it out. It just sounds like it would be so soothing. I said that very thing in the presence of my hippie friend Andrea one time, and she promptly demanded that I go get a NeilMed Nasaflow NetiPot. I gave her some side-eye, because I do not enjoy the sensation of drowning myself, which is what I imagined it would feel like. She told me to quit being a baby and do it, because it works.

Sheer Ribbons? More Like Glue Ribbons

Nepoleanita

I was just at the grocery store scoping out the lotions because my current hand lotion is not cutting it in the battle against the generic hand soap at my new job. As I was staring at the bottle with glazed over eyes, I saw this...thing and did a double take.

What the hell is something that looks like mousse doing in the lotion section? Upon closer inspection, it is actually lotion. Gold Bond Sheer Ribbons Silk Softness lotion, to be exact.

Boy, Is My Face NOT Red!: Clinique Redness Solutions Foundation

Author: Nepoleanita

I have a red face. Like, really red. People are constantly asking me if I'm ok because I always look flushed, like I'm angry or overheated. I tried all sorts of makeup and creams and oils and powders and nothing worked. Mineral powders helped, but my skin got really dried out by them and I still looked flushed, just not as much. I even got myself checked for rosacea. Nope. I just have a red face. I'd resigned myself to a life of strangers commenting on my health and well-being.

Until now. Clinique Redness Solutions foundation with Probiotic Technology

Here Comes The Sun: Aveeno Hydrosport Sunblock Spray

Author: Nepoleanita

I gave up any hope of being tan long ago. My skin doesn't even seem to have the ability to tan. I go from florescent white to florescent red pretty much immediately. That fact combined with my family's penchant for skin cancer means that I'm pretty serious about sun protection. I'm constantly wearing sunblock of some kind, and that I'm constantly looking for sunblock options. I have four right now that I use for different reasons. But I'm adding a fifth into heavy rotation, possibly even replacing one of those four. Who is this newcomer? Aveeno Hydrosport Sunblock Spray

Hot Tips! Shoo flyaways, don't bother me!

Say good bye to the sultry, moist, humid days of summer...those lovely days of frizz and funk that no straightening iron can handle! Enter - the dry, brittle winter weather that statics up your hair until you'd rather just head over to the local Science Centre and grab onto that sparkly ball, because at least you'll look in control of your hair just once this year.

Never fear! Nepoleanita has a great reminder for those of you with flyaways, frizzes and other hair related futzes - your average dryer sheet smoothed over your perfect 'do will do far more than any other product to really, truly take that static outta your attic, and stick that fringe back to where it should begin.

Take a few of them along - doesn't hurt to have a shoe and purse freshener along while you cultivate your coif!

Suave Essentials Dry Shampoo Spray: Ten Kinds of NO.

Author: Nepoleanita

I have superfine hair that starts to look greasy after less than 24 hours without washing, which means that I have to blow dry my hair daily. Hello, heat damage. I was on drugstore.com a few weeks ago, and I needed a few more dollars to get the free shipping deal, so I ordered a small size of Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Spray.

And I am SO relieved I only got the small size. This product is HORRIBLE. Utterly horrible.

Red Red Wine, You Make Me Feel So Fine

Author: Nepoleanita

While I did grow up in California, it wasn't until I went off to college in Santa Barbara that I really gained any experience with wine. It was sort of like a natural phenomenon if you lived there for longer than a month. Wine knowledge just starts to accumulate in your brain instead of important shit you need to remember for midterms. Or maybe it was just me? Anyway, my point is, I don't know that much about wine, really. I don't know any of the fancy terms. Most of my bottle purchasing decision is based on whether or not I like the label. I have a general idea what types of wines I enjoy, but there's no way I can tell you the difference between a Pinot Noir and a Cabernet Savignon. If I really like a wine, then I'll make an effort to remember what it is, or more often take a picture of the label for later reference.

Even though my mind is a sieve and I can barely remember to put on pants before leaving the house most days, there is one wine that I never have to make an effort to remember because it is, simply put, The Best.

What is it, you ask?

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin. If you've had it, you know.

Method Laundry Detergent: Love of my Life

Author: Nepoleanita

If I had to pick a nemesis, I would have to say that it's Doing Laundry. I just hate everything about the process, from sorting by color and type, to making sure the settings are correct, to folding and putting away. I hate it all. But I think the worst part has always been lugging around a heavy bottle of laundry soap, especially since I haven't had a washer and dryer in my apartment for years.

Enter Method.
