Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Cream

Pinky McLadybits

I was chosen to receive an Influenster Beauty VoxBox again. One of the items I received was this Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Cream. This is a very good thing since I am terrible about choosing products to help me tame my thick, slightly wavy, totally uncooperative hair. I was so happy to have the chance to try something without paying for it.

My hair ends up frizzy after drying regardless of the season and with the cold weather I end up blow drying more. Blow drying frizzes me out too. I've tried other smoothing techniques and serums, so I had a feeling it would probably be a miracle if this stuff worked.

After a shower, I put my hair in a towel thing and proceeded to clean the bathroom, sweep and mop all of the floors, and run the vacuum. My hair was still quite damp after all of this, but it wasn't dripping wet. I put a slightly-larger-than-pea-sized glob of Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Cream in my hand and started to work it through my heavy hair. Then I brushed it, because combs can't even handle me right now, and sectioned it off to blow dry.

My blow dryer is super old, blows either fire or ice, and takes forever to dry my hair. I also have trouble switching the brush and blow dryer to get both sides of my hair dry. I AM SUPER TALENTED. After knocking myself in the cranium a few times with the end of the hair dryer, I decided to just use my fingers to comb out the hair as I blow dry, eliminating the need to get all fancy with the way I brushed it.

You know what? I actually worked. My hair isn't super straight, nor is it completely free of frizz. However, I do not have near the amount of frizz I would have had without the Smooth Moves. Add to that the pleasing smell of coconut and the small amount needed to crush my frizz and you have a happy Pinky.

Full disclosure: I was selected by Influenster to receive products to review. I will be reviewing them whether I find them awesome or terrible.

  1. My problem is that everything requires damp hair. I generally shower in the evenings, and wake up with my messy, frizzy, wavy hair. And none of the products for de-frizz are designed for it dry, but it feels stupid to rewet my head just to try and make it not frizzy, y'know? STUPID HAIR.
