Herbal Essences: Honey I'm Strong - Honey, You Ain't Lyin'

Metric Jenn

I haven't had much luck with shampoos and conditioners, you guys. I try and I try...but my hair is very crabby. It could be due to the fact that I haven't gotten a haircut in ages; but with my tight budget, some things take priority.

*ahem*doggyhaircutsinstead*ahem*

Anyhow, as I was waiting in Safeway for my prescription to be filled, I wandered amongst the hair care aisle. The Honey, I'm Strong by Herbal Essences catches my eye, simply because I'd never seen it before as a part of their product line.

More like Herbal Mehssences: Herbal Essence's "Body Envy" Shampoo

Figgy

You might remember how much I love my Herbal Essences "Hello, Hydration!" shampoo. My ridiculously fine, oily hair loves the stuff. The smell is amazing and never fails to wake me up in the morning. But...

You might also remember how I have the attention span of a gnat, and how  every now and then I get the urge to try something new, even though the old works perfectly fine. Fixin' what ain't broke, that's me.

So while perusing the shampoo aisle at the Walmart (while my husband grumbled on about how there's five million shampoos for women and like, three for me)  I was drawn to the pretty orange bottle of Herbal Essence's Body Envy shampoo.Well, it wasn't just the bottle. It also smelled really good. I have a theory that Herbal Essences drops in some mythical potions  and shit into their shampoos, because they all smell freakin' amazing.

Orchid Not Included: Tousle Me Softly Mousse

Rusty

I’ve never been an overly hair-oriented girl because I’ve never been able to do much with my hair. It’s incredibly fine and so straight that most efforts to style it fall flat in a couple of hours. However, as I’ve gotten older and a little more bold with my efforts I have made some progress.

I can now consistently blow dry my hair in such a way that it looks slightly fluffy and ‘done’ without too much trouble. One of the things that helps me accomplish this is Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly mousse.

No Moaning In The Shower: Herbal Essences "Hello, Hydration!" Shampoo

Figgy

If you've ever taken a look at my bio, you'll know that I hate my hair. Unlike some lucky people in my family, I didn't inherit my mother's thick, lustrous black hair. Instead I was saddled with my dad's thin, floppy, blah head of hair. I've never been able to do a damned thing to it. Ponytails slip off, barrettes never stay on, any styling disappears after two hours (the stylist for my wedding used what I swear was a whole can of hairspray and it was still gone after a few hours) and it'll get greasy if I so much as touch it too many times in a day. I also have to wash it every single morning or it'll look absolutely disgusting. It's a nightmare.

I have tried every shampoo out there. From the cheap Tresmmes to the really fancy crap, and none of them have worked in the long term. They'll either dry it and make it even floppier and lifeless, or just coat it in yet another layer of grease.

Figgy Favorites: Things to be Thankful For

Figgy

1. DKNY Be Delicious Fragrances

I own the Fresh Blossom and Juiced versions of this perfume, and they are possibly the best things I have ever smelled. They're fruity, sweet and fresh, and none of them are overpowering. They're also some of a handful of perfumes that don't make my nose go insane. I'm still coveting the Golden Delicious version.

My Very Short Term Romance with Herbal Essences' Long-Term Relationship Split End Protector

Author: Metric Jenn
May I share a secret shame with you, dear readers? As I’ve mentioned before, I am obsessed with having nice curls and non-frizzy hair. Well, that quest becomes difficult when I have such self-defeating habits as only getting my hair cut once every 12 to 13 months. Yes, it’s true. I’m too lazy to haul my ass to see Nicole, my hairdresser, more than once per year. Trust me, she is not amused when she has to hack through the curls with what looks like a machete and an industrial sized de-tangler/possible blow-torch-acid-spray-combo. So 3 months after seeing Nicole, and in an effort to make her life easier (rather than saaaayyyy, just going to see her more often), I picked up some split-end protector/repair from Herbal Essences for $3.49 at the local drug store.
