Florida gets a winter. Know how I know? It was cold as hell earlier this month, with freeze warnings in parts of my area. And with the cold weather comes dry air. The kind of dry air that sucks the moisture out of my hair and causes it to tangle into a dreadlock at the nape of my neck.

Please excuse the crappy picture of this product...but it seems to be a rare enough find to not have any results on the Google Image search! Well, lah-dee-freakin-dah. It looks like I've finally hipstered a hair product. I started using this BEFORE it was cool. "But Metric Jenn," you are all asking, "What on earth is that a blurry photo of?" To which I reply, "Don't end your sentences in a preposition, that's just bad form. Oh, and it's this Curl Defining Cream I randomly picked up for like 18$ at Shopper's Drug Mart."

So as long as you stop ending your questions in prepositions, I will gladly introduce you to my new go-to product to stop fly-aways and give a bit more definition to my spirals.

A good hair cleanser is the foundation of a good hair day. The curly-haired gal or guy needs a shampoo that not only gently cleanses the hair of oil, dirt, and hair product but they will need one suited to their hair type. I'm a big fan of the Shea Moisture brand, so when I saw a gift set with the Coconut & Hibiscus products on clearance at Target earlier this year, I snatched it up.

EverStyle Curl Activating Mousse: More Like NeverStyle

I tend to stick to the John Frieda line of curl products.  They've served me well over the years.  But the last time I went to pick up some curl activating mousse, I strayed from my usual stuff to try L'Oreal's EverStyle version instead.  Why?  For the simplest of reasons: I had a coupon.  And, sure, it sounded good.  It promised to give me full, bouncy curls without frizz and without the nasty stickiness that so many hair products produce.

When, when, WHEN will I learn that cheaper isn't always better?  That sometimes paying for better quality is worth it?

 I guess I'm just slow sometimes.

Hello, my lovely readers! It's been a while, and I've missed writing to you about my many...MANY product trial failures. As you may recall, I raved about Bumble & Bumble before - about their curly hair product. So I was very excited to try out another product which is purported to "deliver(s) all-day gleam, controls flyaways and creates excellent separation and dimension without leaving hair greasy or weighed down". 

Bb Shine was to be my frizzy, flyaway hair saviour. I would have gotten down on my knees to start pleasing the hair gods had this product worked for me. As it stands, my mouth remains closed and I've watched way too much South Park - so much that it's permeating this review in unseemly ways.

Curly Hair and STDs, 2 Things The Body Shop Can't Help Us With

Having curly hair pretty much begets the problem of frizz. Kind of like how being a dirty skank often begets STDs - not that I would know, of course; I am saving myself for The Skarsgård. My analogy stands, though. 


I am sure that ANYONE with curly hair can relate to the problem of curls getting out of control, and many products that claim to control frizz oftentimes weigh down your hair, so that it looks like it's straight on top with curls at the bottom. Other products don’t do enough and it’s like you did nothing at all. I feel all of your pain. I live with it, and this is why my hair goes into a donkey’s ass bundle at the top of my head 90% of the time.
