Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner

Pinky McLadybits

After my latest acquisition of natural hair care products that left my head greasier than a teenager's face after being dipped in a vat of olive oil and french fry drippings, I was on the prowl for something new. Organix is something that other people have praised, but the size of the bottle and the price kept me away.

I am an idiot. Please forgive me, Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner! I didn't know! I didn't know!

I snagged the Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner after talking to my stylist about it at Ulta. She hadn't used it, but she had heard very good things about it. She talked me out of my initial idea to get the Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo because I hadn't had a keratin treatment. She thought it would work better alongside the treatment. I took her advice and chose the Shea Butter because of its promise to "create smooth, frizz-free shiny hair".

The blend of yogurt proteins, shea butter, and avocado oil made me a little nervous. After that grease-head debacle I was afraid of being slick again. I scrubbed my hair with the shampoo and followed up with the conditioner. They have a faint shea butter scent, which I love. It is very faint once you are done with the lathering and rinsing, but if you are a weirdo and sniff your hair like I do, you can still catch a whiff every now and then.

After the initial wash my hair felt different. It felt less than smooth. I put the conditioner on, hoping it was the one-two punch that would give me the smooth, shiny, soft hair that I crave. As soon as I rinsed the conditioner from my mane, I could tell a huge difference. My hair was very soft. It smelled amazing. But would it be greasy when it dried?

To be sure that it was the Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner and not any other product, I did not put anything else in my hair. Happily, my hair was soft, shiny, and smooth when it dried. Thank, Jebus. I found myself stroking my own hair like an idiot. It's just so soft! Like, fluffy puppy after being groomed soft! Even better, the softness lasts for longer than I could hope! I didn't even need to use dry shampoo in-between hair washing! I am so happy. SO HAPPY. The duo only loses one tentacle, as some people may not want to pay $8 a bottle. But they should.

Rating: 7/8 tentacles
