Aveeno Body Wash: Energize Me So I Don't Feel Like Murdering Everyone At Work, Please.

It is the middle of winter, I have no vacation time left, and there is no winter sojourn down to Mexico in my future. My patience with everything and everyone is at an end, and it's a virtual Herculean Feat to get myself out of bed in the morning to go to work. Generally, I need SOMETHING new to motivate me, or just give me that little boost in the morning that isn't a ninth cup of coffee or meth-amphetamines. And so I turned to Aveeno for some help. I picked up the Energizing Body Wash with lemongrass, rosemary, and mint at Safeway about three weeks ago.  I paid 7.99$ for a 16 oz bottle, a bit on the more expensive side for body washes.

In a sad and futile attempt to break my addiction to Sephora and higher end beauty products, I went to the local Target to replace my face moisturizer and left with a bottle of Aveno Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer. This was a mistake and will likely drive me straight back to the loving embrace of little black bags and price tags that make my bank account cry.

While the Aveeno daily moisturizer does have some benefits, I appreciate the SPF 15 as one whose reaction to direct sunlight is only slightly less drastic than one of Anne Rice’s vampires. And it does help my skin feel less dry and tight during these winter months which is also nice. For the other benefits, I can’t say much for them.

I gave up any hope of being tan long ago. My skin doesn't even seem to have the ability to tan. I go from florescent white to florescent red pretty much immediately. That fact combined with my family's penchant for skin cancer means that I'm pretty serious about sun protection. I'm constantly wearing sunblock of some kind, and that I'm constantly looking for sunblock options. I have four right now that I use for different reasons. Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF30: Not So Calming, Actually

May I tell you all a story? It’s a classic "That's Jenn!". One with which I’m sure all of you can relate. It was a lovely late-summer day, and I had just finished spending over $200 and the afternoon at the spa getting a facial and a massage. I was squeaky clean and loose as a goose. My skin was glowing. GLOWING. 

Anyhow, a couple of days pass, and I realize that I’m out of daytime moisturizer. I head over to the drug store and peruse the aisle for my usual Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer with salycylic acid and total soy complex for clear, even looking skin. To my utter dismay, they were out of it. And rather than head to the next drug store, I just grabbed the EXACT same lotion, but with SPF 30 in it.

What could possibly go wrong? I was using my preferred lotion, but now I was being a responsible adult and protecting against skin cancer!
