Influenster was nice enough to choose me over the summer for their Beauty VoxBox program. One of the items I reviewed was Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen SPF30. Influenster enjoyed my review enough to choose me as one of the winners of their Hawaiian Tropic Prize Pack. 

The prize pack included a beach towel, a t-shirt, a full-size of the sunscreen, and Hawaiian Tropic Aloha Kiss Moisturizing Lip Balm SPF20 in Island Berry. I was pleased with everything in the prize pack, especially the lip gloss. I already have two or three gloss/lip balm sticks in my purse, but I can always use something else!

So of course you all know the story: Girl meets boy....errr...I mean lip balm. Girl pays a lot of money for lip balm because it's all natural and makes lofty promises. Boy...I MEAN LIP BALM does something stupid and breaks girl's heart/lips/wallet. I think this analogy totally went off the rails, and I've been watching too many early Sandra Bullock romantic comedies. Yeah, While You Were Sleeping has permeated my brain.

A Little Bit Louder Now: Pump It Up Lip Gloss

Lip plumping glosses and I have a long and tortured history. While my lips aren’t exactly thin, my upper lip has a tendency to get lost in pictures if my face is angled down and I’ve always been a fan of big pillow lips like those of Angelina Jolie or Kerry Washington.  While I know that no topical products are ever going to get me there, a little help would be nice. Alas, my search for magically puffy lips is destined to continue.

I went on a bit of a Lush kick recently since I was giving it all a second chance after that horrible egg-face-mask travesty from before. I was so filled with apprehension and doubts, and who could blame me? I looked like a freaking leper for Satan's sake! Friends were calling the CDC to report an outbreak of zombieism.

Tinted Balm Battle: Fresh Sugar Rose vs Burt Bee's Tinted Lip Balm

This winter I decided to step away from my usual lip liner + gloss formula and try something a little softer, a little gentler and a little less likely to leave lip prints on my wine glass. Tinted balm seemed just the ticket. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm had good buzz (ba dum dum) in the beauty community, and I'd just gotten Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose from Sephora for my birthday so the time was perfect for a head to head match up.

Just Bitten - In the Ass: Revlon Lip Stain

Whilst wandering aboot (ahem...sorry AB-AH-OUT) Shopper's Drug Mart, I stumbled upon the Revlon display. I had my eyes peeled for new lip-colours, stains, sticks, and glosses because I was running dangerously low on lip-stuffs at only 26 products. The Just Bitten campaign caught my eyes, and I was completely intrigued by the idea of a marker used on my lips.

Seriously you guys, in the store I examined the product intently...it is a bloody MARKER for your lips. And on the other end it's a clear, 1 inch of balm stick. There were 10 colours to choose from, and I merrily selected "Mystical". How absolutely, all-encompassingly intriguing!
