My Face Craves Chocolate: Lush Cupcake Face Mask

Spring has sprung, and we all know what that means: The grass turns green, flowers bloom, and I try a Lush face mask again after a year-long hiatus and being terrified that my skin won't be able to handle it. 

This time around I chose the Lush Cupcake Face Mask for $8.95, trumpeted on their site as being invented with teenage skin in mind. I figured it was apt, as spring time always wrecks havoc with my complexion (face and neck). Sadly, I even found 3 blemishes on my neck last week - and so I decided to get crazy-proactive. No, no...not Proactive from the commercials: I went the natural/hippie route:Lush.

I'm a girl who prefers to use anything natural when she can. I don't make my own face scrub or conditioner or cleaning products, but I have been known to slather my head in olive oil (and lately the wonder stuff, coconut oil).

Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find good, natural products. I've looked around at both my local health food store and Target and been unable to find much of anything in the way of facial scrubs. But, after reading Tamatha's plea for us to ditch the apricot scrub we all seem to use, I went on a great Google hunt and came across a brand called 100% Pure.

You ever have those products that you put down for months or even a year at a time and then when you get some again and you use it and think “Oh my god, why the hell haven’t I been keeping up with this all along?!? This is great!” Probably not, because it doesn’t make a damn bit of sense. But I do, and one of the products that I’ll inadvertently abandon and then come back to is Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty face mask.

I’ve used this mask on freshly washed skin and over 24 hours since I last washed my face. I’ve used it in summer and winter, and everything in between. I get the same results every time and this is one of the few skin care products I can say that about given the way season changes affect my skin.

Are there any natural ingredients enthusiasts out there in Hot Ink land today? Because I've got a bone to pick with you. Aren't natural ingredients supposed to NOT irritate my skin? Isn't that the whole premise?! To get away from harsh chemicals and become one with the earth once more? That's what all those filthy hippies at the Lush store keep telling me, as strong - no: overwhelming - scents assault my nasal cavity. The answer to those questions is "Yes." you say?

Well then, WHY does my face look like someone tried to put out a forest fire with a screw driver?

And don't say it's because I'm Canadian. We gave you Ryan Gosling. Show some respect!
