I'm Ready and Willing, and I'm a Villain

MelBivDevoe

Ah, morning, my old nemesis.  Speaking of enemies, here's a collection of real-life villains drawn in comic book style.  One day I will defeat you, metabolism!!  *shakes fist angrily* (College Humor)

Who doesn't love a good "buy one, get one" free deal?  How about this offer from a jeweler in Georgia - buy a diamond ring and get a gun for free!  Kinda puts a new spin on the idea of a shotgun wedding.  (WSB TV)

I had no idea that they offered CrossFit training for kids as young as 4 years old.  Imagining a toddler who can perform a dead lift when I can't makes me feel a bit embarrassed, to be honest.  (NPR)

This is pretty inspiring.  Artist Julia Kozerski used changing room photos of herself to document her amazing weight loss - 160 pounds in one year!  (Julia Kozerski)

She's So Dramatic, I Want to Set Myself On Fire

MelBivDevoe

Happy Monday, y'all.  Let's start things off with a laugh or two, shall we?  This tumblr mashes up images of Lucille Bluth from "Arrested Development" with actual quotes from Mitt Romney.  It's unreal how easily you could be fooled into thinking that these are quotes from the show instead.  (Lucille and Mitt)

I will never look at Joe Flacco the same way again after seeing this NFL quarterbacks/Muppets comparison.  If I ever hear him call someone a "weirdo," I might die of laughter.  (BuzzFeed)

Is it November Yet?

MelBivDevoe

Favorite new tumblr: The Worst Things for Sale.  It's incredible not only that these products exist but also that people actually buy them.  Like these Puppylocks.  Really?  (TWTFS)

Republicans in Congress killed a bill that would help unemployed veterans receive job training.  The strange thing is, many of them helped to write the bill in the first place.  So why did they kill it?  Speculators believe they wanted to prevent Obama from scoring another victory.  That's right - it's more important to some Republicans to see Obama lose than it is to provide help to those who have served our country.  I just can't with these political games anymore, you guys.  Is it Election Day yet? (NBC News)

Despite that bad news, there was something to celebrate yesterday - September 20th marked the one year anniversary of the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  While there's still a ways to go until all people considered equal in our country, this was still a big step for equality.  (HRC

Bring On the Weekend! Bring On the Batman!

MelBivDevoe

Our hearts go out to the victims of the midnight shooting in Colorado and their families. (People)

Happy Friday!  Do you have your tickets ready for the premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" this weekend?  Or have you already seen it at a midnight opening, you lucky ducks?  I won't be seeing it for a few days, which means it's time to avoid the internet again (I won't be spoiled!).

If you're in a Batman mood, take a trip down memory lane with this real-time review of Joel Schumacher's opus "Batman & Robin."  It's much better if you read this article instead of attempting to watch it yourself... well, better for you, at least.  (Pajiba)

Speaking of superheroes, these amazing retro art posters capture my favorite team, the X-Men, in eye-popping colors.   Who wouldn't want a "BAMF!" poster for their wall?? (Etsy)

Molecule, a new store in NYC, sells tap water.  That's it.  Just specially filtered, $2.50 for a 16-ounce bottle, tap water.  Choice quote from the article - "I think you'll have people who will start becoming water connoisseurs."  Uh.  Even if you add electrolytes and vitamins, it's just WATER.  Sheesh!  (WSJ)
