Dixie's Guide to Fall and Winter Perfumes

Dixie

Despite popular belief, Florida actually has seasons. True, the Sunshine State may have long, humid summers but we do eventually get around to fall and winter. We just don't get all that snow and shit that the rest of y'all do. Basically, we can all bring our winter fashions out of storage without having to worry about snow tires and road salt. All of the cuteness, none of the back-breaking labor. And, with fall and winter fashions comes fall and winter perfumes.

During the summer, I tend to wear perfumes with citrus notes - scents that are fresh and energizing because Lord knows perfumes are the only fresh scents after a day spent in and out of the heat and humidity. But in fall and winter, I like a heavier, more earthy perfume to warm my senses. These are a few of my stand-by favorites:

Oscar FEVER! Let's Play Dress Up!

We here at Hot Ink love the Oscars. Every year, Pajiba Ladies choose dresses that we would wear if we were at the ceremony. It's fun and you can always lament that you would have looked so much hotter in that Marchesa than OldWhatsHerFace did when she arrived in your dress. Since we totally have a platform now to inflict our dress choices and odd fascination with the Academy Awards on others, we decided that it was crucial to do so. Feel free to play along and post your dream dress in the comments!

Also, on Oscar night we will be watching and commenting over at Pajiba while Courtney live-blogs the ceremony. Come for the reactions to red carpet looks, stay for people being super-pissed if Jonah Hill wins an Oscar!

Iconic or Demonic? Dior Iconic Mascara

Author: Metric Jenn

Iconic. That’s a pretty lofty name for mascara. For something to be iconic, it must stick in the minds of generations as something to be admired and emulated. Dior has a history of classic looks that are associated with old Hollywood glamour.

I am very much a fan of Dior. I have a lot of their products. Most of the time I find them to be high quality products worth the exorbitant price. I’ve been searching for a good mascara for years now, from cheap Wal-Mart brands, to Benefit to Dior. NONE have stood up to my standards. I guess by now you can tell how well Dior Iconic fares in my estimation.

J’adore Dior - My eyes! My beautiful eyes!

Author: Metric Jenn

Yes, yes, I know that the tag line J'adore Dior is from Dior’s perfume line, and Carrie from Sex and the City RUINED that cute shirt by prancing around like a deranged be-tutued hobo. Never-the-less, Dior has endured as a classic house of fashion for many, many reasons. Accessibility is actually one of them, despite being so closely associated with higher designer prices, The French, excess and celebrity. My first Dior purchase was a pair of sunglasses that I’d seen on Pam Anderson. My friend also had them and it must have registered in my brain, but she described them as being Nicole Richie - associated, so I assumed mine were shaped differently or something. Nope. They were the same sunglasses! Dammit. Friend-faux-pas aside, I anxiously awaited the order to arrive.
