Figgy
As you might know by now, I'm a pretty big fan of The Body Shop's line of bath products. I'd been eying their line of body scrubs for a while, but had been reluctant to buy one seeing as I'm, well, a freakish cheapskate. Fortunately I found a gift box on sale at Sephora, which included the Coconut Bath Gel, the scrub, body butter AND lip balm for something like $15. All of them full-sized. KA-CHING!
Wasn't that an exciting story?
So, the Scrub. It contains natural ingredients like actual coconut and babassu oils (I'm not sure what that last one is, but it sounds kickass), and the little scrubby bits (not the technical name, nyatch) are made of coconut peel. Nice!
It's a little liquidy, so you have to watch out that it doesn't slip off your fingers and you end up with a bunch of blobs on the tub and all over the shower curtain. Not that that's ever happened to me. It's pretty easy to use--you get wet, put a blob of the scrub on your fingers and rub over your body. DIRTY. It's very gritty and smells very, very strongly of coconut, which is nice even if it reminds me of the stinky sunscreens my mother would slather on us at the beach and make you look all white and gross and-- Anyway! So it smells like actual coconut, not like the nasty fake stuff.
You rub it in circles all over the place, then wash it off. You don't need much to cover your whole body, either, and the container has a lot of product to use, so it should last you for a good while. It washes off nice and quick, though it leaves a little bit of the coconut oil on your body for moisture. And when you're done? OOOH, BABY. This left my skin feeling so soft I just wanted to keep stroking it, only it got weird and I stopped. There's a faint smell of coconut left, but thankfully it's nothing overpowering. And oh my skin looks so, so nice. Healthy and glowing and all that happy stuff. It also feels incredibly refreshing, which is particularly nice on hot days. I use it sparingly, though, only once every couple of weeks or so. Sometimes I'll use it on my feet or knees and elbows if they're feeling a little gritty, and the results are always pretty damn great.
So the lovely Coconut Scrub gets a shining 8/8 from me. It smells nice and leaves your skin feeling wonderfully soft and fresh. I'm even willing to buy it for the full price in the future, though it'll hurt to shill out $20 for it. Just gotta watch out for those awesome sales the Body Shop is always running. I really want to try some of the citrusy versions. Now I'm gonna go hunt down some coconut ice cream. I'm craving it for some weird reason.

I love the Body Shop scrubs! The Brazil Nut is my personal favorite but the Coconut is good too. You are right about how amazingly soft they leave your skin, and if you layer with some of the Body Butter afterwards your skin will be in heaven.
ReplyDeleteThe citrus-y ones are sugar scrubs so they are a little different than the Coconut, but also nice. You should definitely check them out. I keep one by my sink and use it as a hand scrub, too.
