I Love You, But Your Name Is Silly: Clinique's Chubby Stick Tinted Lip Balm

Figgy

Last week I told you guys about my sad, sticky experience with the Clinique lip-gloss I got with my last Gift-With-Purchase. Now I'll get into the next item in my cute little makeup bag: the hilariously named Chubby Stick, a "Moisturizing lip colour balm".

BIG, wonderful difference.

The Chubby Stick (hee) looks very much like a fat crayon, and dammit if it doesn't just look adorable.

The rotating tip tapers so you can use make thick or thin lines, and it's kind of fun to apply it, like painting your lips with a crayon. It's soft and went on very smoothly, which definitely felt nice. The color I had (Mega Melon, hee) was very soft and looked perfect with my skin tone. I suspect that you'll get a soft layer of color with any shade, a good middle between a lipstick and a lip gloss for when you want just a little bit of color.

And oooh, it felt nice. It lasted for hours. I even ate a sandwich and I still had color on my lips after. It was very hydrating and not sticky at all, and had no overwhelming fragrance. Have I mentioned how much I love that Clinique doesn't use fragrances in their products?

In fact, this might be one of the best lip balms I've ever tried, and the sample I got has a surprising amount of product.

I'm definitely happy about that last part, because...well, it's not cheap. It's $15 and I don't think I can justify paying that much for anything on a regular basis, even if it's a product I love this much. But, but I just might buy it when I run out, if it continues to feel this nice on my lips.

So, the Chubby Stick gets a happy 7 out of 8 tentacles from me, with one taken off for the price. It's soft, smooth, moisturizing and lasts forever, giving your lips a really pretty amount of color without going too far. Highly recommended if you're willing to spend the money.

Rating: 7/8 tentacles

  1. That's definitelty true! I just have to fight my strong instincts to be super cheap ;)

Also! It's a good way to build up a purchase for GWP from Clinique. A lot of the other counters never have anything at that price.
