Aromas Artesanales De Antigua Luxury Hand Cream: Massage Me Like One of Your Guatemalan Girls

Metric Jenn

(This review may be a bit on the crazy side, as I am currently suffering back pain and the Doc gave me some sweet, sweet painkilling relief.)

I've been sitting on this product for about 3 months now. I bought it in Santa Barbara from this froo-froo hippie shop (don't ask me what it was called; I barely remember my own name). I was looking for more lotions to add to my hoarder-like collection at home. I smelled each lotion and made my choice based on how Lindsay Lohan-ish I felt. You see, I'd just visited the court house in which she was sentenced and it was like my Mecca.

Bum Deal Not a Bum Deal: Benefit Bum Deal Body Scrub

Park

I am completely perfect.  Yes, when I wake up in the morning I look as if I had a make-up team spend hours giving me the perfect "natural look".  Birds tie my hair ribbons while simultaneously singing a song that extols my many great qualities.  Oh, you didn't know that birds were capable of human speech?  Maybe they aren't for most people.

However, if I was a regular person with regular problems perhaps I would be concerned about cellulite and exfoliating my skin.  If I were not really busy having brunch with Hollywood stars and playing jetpack mini golf (don't worry, you'll hear about it in a few years) I would probably want to make sure  I had the smoothest, softest skin possible.

For All-Over Soft Skin: Aveda Replenishing Body Moisturizer

Tamatha

About ten years ago, my hair stylist gave me a tube of Aveda's Replenishing Body Moisturizer for my birthday, and I haven't looked back since.

I love this moisturizer like nobody's business.

I use it year round. Since it's humid in New England in the summer, I mostly use it for my hands and feet during those warmer months. In the winter, however, this lotion is my go-to for keeping dry skin at bay.

One of the things that I like about this moisturizer is that it has a really nice consistency. It's not too thick, which is why I can use it throughout the year. But it's also rich enough so that I don't have to slather myself to feel the effects.

The Body Shop Candied Ginger Body Butter: Smooth As Silk, Strong As Steel

Pinky McLadybits

I can't remember the last time I bought something from The Body Shop. At least, I think I've purchased stuff from them in the past...

Anyway, I had some Christmas money languishing in my wallet and decided to try out one of their giant body butters that I had heard so much about. It helped that Christmas scents were 50% off, making the regularly priced $18 body butter only $9. This fit in well with my cheapness and allowed me to buy 2 blu-rays and several Rifftrax with the rest of my money.

SCORE!

Herbacin Kamille Hand & Nail Balm - Takes on Canadian Winter and Wins!

Park

Canada can be one tricky bitch.

She reels you in with the free health care and politeness.  She makes you feel comfortable with her safe borders and the soothing sounds of “aboot” and “eh”.  Then, just when you aren’t expecting it: BAM! She throws freezing, skin-cracking weather at you for at least a third of the year.

This means that frequent topics of conversation between Canadians during the winter months are: 1) How it's aboot freezin'  2)  What skin cream will stop you from having chapped itchy hands 24/7  and 3) some boring thing about Hockey that I don’t listen to.

Gift Sets That Don't Suck: Soap and Glory's You Cube

Rusty

We all know that it’s the thought that counts and tis better to give than to receive, but lets face it: no one wants to receive a sucky gift or give one. Here are some pre-assembled presents we’d be happy to receive and why.

Do you have someone in your life who, like me, spends all the winter months complaining of dry skin, dry hands, and hating life in general? Are they always searching for new hand creams and can give you a run down of the flaws in every brand they’ve tried, occasionally arranged alphabetically? Do they like having pretty boxes to store things in? Can they handle somewhat lame pop culture puns with good humor? Good news! I have a great gift idea for you!

Sheer Ribbons? More Like Glue Ribbons

Nepoleanita

I was just at the grocery store scoping out the lotions because my current hand lotion is not cutting it in the battle against the generic hand soap at my new job. As I was staring at the bottle with glazed over eyes, I saw this...thing and did a double take.

What the hell is something that looks like mousse doing in the lotion section? Upon closer inspection, it is actually lotion. Gold Bond Sheer Ribbons Silk Softness lotion, to be exact.

Chocolate - It Does a Body Good: Palmer's Cocoa Butter Cream

Author: Rusty

This week winter bitch-slapped the mid to north East Coast and, amid my threats to sell a kidney to move back to Miami (if you have any info on that, by the way, I would not be disinterested in it), I noticed that winter air had invaded with a vengeance. The kind of air that makes your hair stand on end from static and charges all your doorknobs and also reduces your skin to a dry crackly, sore mess. I am extremely susceptible to this kind of air. And as it has its weapons, I have an arsenal of my own.

One of the weapons in my arsenal is Palmer’s Cocoa Butter cream. Long a standby for pregnant women interested in avoiding stretch marks, the cream is also fantastic for winter battered hands that are starting to crack around the edges. It also kind of smells like chocolate, but that’s nothing but good news as far as I’m concerned.

Like Spreading A Melted Spork On Your Face: Philosophy's Hope in a Jar

Author: Figgy

One of the things I love about Nordstrom's is their happy willingness to give out free samples at their beauty counters. Did you know you can ask for a small sample of your favorite perfume, and they'll happily give you one? Yes! It's like a treasure trove for cheap suckers like myself. Just make sure you don't go in there too often or the salesladies will look at you weird. Ahem.

On one of my strolls through their beauty department I found a stack of little samples of Philosophy's Hope in a Jar moisturizing lotion, and I picked up a couple. It's the #2 best rated moisturizer on Sephora and I'd been wanting to check it out for a while. So I was excited.

Rusty's Sample Roulette: Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion

Author: Rusty

I order from Sephora kind of a lot. Because of this I have a giant box of samples just hanging out, waiting to be used. This… is… SAMPLE ROULETTE. Due to the brief nature of the use, I will assign ratings as 0 (stay away) 4 (I liked it, but didn’t love it) or 8 (love it and will probably be dropping my own money on it in short order). Enjoy!

Neutrogena Ageless Intensives® Anti-Wrinkle Deep Wrinkle Night Moisturizer

Author: Nora

I should probably preface this review with the admission that at my age, I don't have very many wrinkles to combat. I mean, I actually do have a few, but since I'm not actively trying to reverse them (yet), I haven't paid much attention to what Neutrogena Ageless Intensives® Anti-Wrinkle Deep Wrinkle Night Moisturizer does in that regard. However, as a freckled, thin-skinned girl with an extensive history of sunburns, I do have a bit of sun damage on my face, and I've started to notice that my skin doesn't quite have the luster it used to. I mention this stuff because this moisturizer is AMAZING, and I feel pretty confident that it has broad appeal. It's marketed as an anti-wrinkle cream, but it works remarkably well as a general skin improvement cream too. I guess I take it for granted that it reduces wrinkles, but who knows? This moisturizer might be the very reason I'm able to sit here all carefree and baby-faced.
