Beautiful Meets Goofy Meets Smart Meets Goofy Again

Park

Whoa, it's already been a year (well, okay, that was yesterday, but still pretty darn cool, right?)  I wanted to celebrate by finding some of the greatest, funniest most well written stuff on the internet (well, okay, I always try to do that, but still pretty darn cool I'm trying, right?)

Let's start with possibly the most hilarious messing with someone I’ve ever read.  Though perhaps not as hilarious as the picture to the left. (Don’t Even Reply)

Love letters and responses to them.  I think this is just beautiful (The Hairpin)

Going to hang out with a bunch of Harry Potter nerds and want to impress them but only have 13 minutes to bone up on the movies?  No worries, we’ve got your back  (The Mary Sue)

“You’re killing me Smalls!” because I didn’t know what happened to you.  But now I do, so, umm, Woo! Smalls! (Buzzfeed)

Feel It In the Air, Summer's Out of Reach

MelBivDevoe

Image by Roberto Porto via MSNBC

Mid-August already and you can see autumn coming on fast.  One sign that summer is winding down was the annual appearance of the Perseid meteor shower this weekend.  Were you able to catch a glimpse of this celestial wonder?  (MSNBC)

Another sign that signals the approaching end of summer - the Olympics wrapped up yesterday.  Here's the final medal count for the US - it wasn't our best ever, but it was a damn good year, and our athletes should be proud of what they achieved!  (Mercury News)

And this image from the Olympics shows what it's all about.  (Buzzfeed)

The Queen is Not Amused, But the Internet Definitely Is

MelBivDevoe

Good morning!  Been keeping up with the Olympics this weekend after Friday's nice but slightly underwhelming Opening Ceremonies?  Bleacher Report has a nice round-up of what you've been missing on this side of the pond.  (Note: Their reporting is up-to-the-minute from London, so if you don't want to be spoiled don't click other stories - this one is from Sunday, so you'll be safe!)

My favorite thing from the Olympics so far?  The "Unimpressed Queen Elizabeth" meme.  I like the Queen, and I'd like to imagine she finds these images funny, too.  (Uproxx)

Let Me Blow Ya Mind With Links and Freaks!

Right now, most of the Hot Inkers and assorted Pajibans are obsessed with quinoa. In fact, I made quinoa "mac" and cheese last night and it was AHMAHZING. Here are some more recipes for the protein-packed cousin of the tumbleweed! (Allrecipes)

Speaking of health, do you have your own garden? We don't because our dog would think we had created a giant buffet for his stupid face. SIGH. It's sad because gardens are about so much more than food. (The Great Fitness Experiment)

It's Been Four Days Since The Super Bowl, And The Darkness Is STILL In My Head

                                                                     Kolby

Seriously, folks, I don't know how much longer I'll be in love with "I Believe In A Thing Called Love."  Oy.  Here are your Thursday Links.

100 million years from now, all the continents on Earth will merge together to form a single supercontinent, called "Amasia."  Who'd they ask to pick the name?  Jermaine Jackson?  (Reddit)

Well, this oughta warm your cold, black hearts:  A Wisconsin boy raised $10,500 to save his grandmother's home from foreclosure.  Awwwwwww.  (ABC News)

Here are 7 Sports You Didn't Know You Could Play in The Snow.  I think the title should be 7 Sports There's No Way in Hell You'll Play in The Snow, but that could just be me.  (Discovery)

MelBivDevoe's Wish List

MelBivDevoe

1.  Cute Animal Slippers:

I love nothing more than to come home after a long day of standing on my feet at work, slip off my shoes, and slide my feet into a soft, plushy pair of slippers.  And if said slippers happen to be cute animals?  Well, that's all the better.  Penguins are my favorite animal, so I love these penguin slippers that are available on Amazon for $24.99.

Hot Links: Kittens, Sexy Men, and Miss Piggy

Pinky McLadybits

In honor of Arrested Development's imminent return to my television, I am cross-stitching The Family Love Sampler from STEOTCH for MetricJenn. Also because she bought me the pattern. SPLITTING HAIRS, PEOPLE.

Miss Piggy has always been a fashion icon for her porcine-admiring fans. The Fug Girls take a look at the Pork Diva's style evolution.

Oh, ThinkGeek, maybe you could send me this 8-Bit LED Holiday Wreath to review? Pretty please??

The Batman and Bane. I just picked up Knightfall from the library yesterday so I could see what aspects of that storyline are in The Dark Knight when I see it.
