Canada Day, Eh? Let's Light Some Canadian Fireworks!

MelBivDevoe

Happy Canada Day to all our readers from the Great White North!  The Toronto Star has a nice recap with photos from yesterday's 145th celebration. (Toronto Star)

Toronto was the place to be yesterday, it seems.  What else were they celebrating?  Toronto's 32nd annual Pride Parade.  (National Post)

I'm sure a lot of our East Coast readers were affected by the power outages this weekend.  This is an interesting app - a blackout tracker that shows outages and explains why the power is down.  It does not, it should go without saying, really help if you're currently in a blackout, though.  (BoingBoing)

Emma Stone Continues Her Campaign to Be My New BFF

MelBivDevoe

Good morning!  Hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Me, I spent mine doing my favorite things - shopping and scouring the web for interesting links to share with you all.  You can thank me later.

In this interview with Hollywood.com, Emma Stone comes to terms with being immortalized in GIFs.  They bring us happiness, Emma, so enjoy the craze!  (Crushable)

Another thing I did over the weekend?  Finally watched "Prometheus."  My feelings about the movie can best be summed up by this video from Red Line Media.  (BoingBoing

Another Tony Awards has come and gone. We could discuss the award winners and how a small musical like Once beat a major player like Newsies and what impact that might have on future shows, but let's just look at the pretty dresses, shall we? (Vulture)

You know who looked super cute at the Tonys?  Emma Stone.  Here, she reveals her inspiration for her role as Gwen Stacy in the upcoming Spider-Man revamp, but holy crap, spoilers for anyone who never read the comics! (Crushable)

Hot Links: Monday Is Not A Funday

Pinky McLadybits

Beyonce and Jay-Z had their baby on Saturday. A baby girl named either Blue Ivy or Ivy Blue. All hail the Chosen Child of Pop Music! (People)

3D technology useful?!? UNPOSSIBLE. Medical students using it? Okay, maybe it is useful for that stuff. Maybe. Do they have to pay extra tuition for the 3D glasses? (The New York Times)

I love my local library. I always vote to pass the levies or whatever they're called to support the library. I feel like they are more important than ever when people are in such dire monetary straits. Anyway, the smell is definitely part of the appeal. But, why does the library smell so academic? (POPSCI)
