Urban Decay Naked Palette

Vee

The Urban Decay Naked palette is a classic for a reason. There are a great variety of shimmery neutrals and classic colors. If you are just starting your makeup collection or if you are looking for a comprehensive palette, Naked is worth a try.

The set comes with 12 eyeshadows, a mini primer potion and an eyeshadow brush. I'm a longtime fan of UD's eye primer, so I loved the pocket-sized mini. I was shocked at the high quality of the brush, as most kits contain subpar applicators. I wouldn't use it to apply all my eyeshadow, but the flat shape and smooth bristles would be great for applying shadow to your crease when you want a precise shape. The whole shebang costs $50.

e.l.f. The Beauty Encyclopedia of Smoky Eyes: Buy Me A Drink?

Pinky McLadybits

I think any regular readers that we might have already know that I am woefully untalented when it comes to makeup application. You saw the whore-colored lipstick. Read about my fiasco with Benefit Brow Zings. You discovered that I'm unable to apply Sally Hansen nail strips properly. In short, I'm fancy in the brain.

Lucky for me and those that have to look at me for any period of time, e.l.f. makes Beauty Encyclopedias. I, of course, got this particular Beauty Encyclopedia from Target and I got it on clearance. I'm predictable that way. I chose the Smoky Edition because that is a look I've attempted and never mastered. I hoped that the palette and directions would help me out.

Let Your Eyes Do The Talking: Tarte SmoulderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner

Cindy

In my pre-holiday shopping excitement (I made a resolution to try using make-up a little more often), I bought a few items I'd been wanting to try for a while. One of them was a limited edition holiday set of the well-reviewed Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliners.

After having tried and fallen in love with their LipSurgence collection, I read about these sparkly eyeliners and thought I'd take a chance. If you decide try the Tarte products, take advantage of their value sets which often cost the same as a single item in the same category. For instance, I got a set of five lip tint pencils for $29.00, the same price as one and here I got a set of five eyeliners for $29.00; a single eyeliner usually costs $25.00. Check around for deals at Sephora and QVC, as well as Tarte's own site.

Monster High Scary Cute Beauty Set: Monstrously Gorgeous

Pinky McLadybits & Guest Contributor Pinky Jr.

Pinky Jr. and I were in the store when it happened. "Momma, look at this werewolf girl! I WANT HER FOR MY VERY OWN!" I had seen the Monster High Dolls in the stores while browsing, but I didn't know much about them. Apparently there are some books? I don't know.

What I do know is that these were one of the hot toys around here. Had I known that I would have stockpiled one of each when the damn things were on sale for a comparatively paltry $8 each. Hindsight, 20/20, etc.

As it stands, Pinky Jr. got the werewolf girl (Clawdeen), a zombie girl (Ghoulia Yelps), and Frankenstein's monster girl (Frankie Stein). She also got this adorable makeup set with looks from some of the Monster High Dolls. No, Amazon prices were not paid.

Wait Until You Get an Eyeful of *This*.

Author: Metric Jenn

Last night I found myself bored. It was a Friday night, and after getting home from a long week of work, all I wanted to do was grab dinner and stare at the tv. Of course, that didn't happen and I had to run errands. So off I went, like the worn-out, beaten-down-by-life government worker I am.

I stepped into Shoppers Drug Mart (Canada. And FYI, still not snowing here - YAY.) with a package to mail, and a short list of things to grab before I could zip home to the warm embrace of my pyjamas. Then BAM. I saw it. Purple and shiney. My twin kryptonites.

Ask Ink: Applying Cream Eyeshadows

Author: Rusty

Here is this week's question:
"What am I supposed to use to apply creme eye shadows? It seems like a finger may be the best option, because anything else would get gunked up."

Lorac Red Carpet Reveal Eye and Cheek Palette

Author: Vee

I am an eyeshadow whore. I probably own over 100 shades of shadow and that’s without one of those nifty 88-color sets that does all the work for you.

My requirements for eyeshadow change depending on what I am trying to do with it. Do I want neutral, work-appropriate colors or am I looking for a product to help me create a bright, bold look? In this case I wanted something that would be easy enough to use every day, but that had enough pigmentation to do a smoky eye when called for. I won’t spend money on eyeshadows that are streaky, rough-feeling, or don’t have good color deposit.
