Sometimes a Splurge is Worthy: YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balm

Cindy

Once in a while, it's nice to splurge--amiright? While I tend more toward shoes than make-up, I was recently preparing to attend an overseas wedding (followed by a child-free vacation) and I decided to try something new. I picked the two items I thought I'd use the most and set off to my nearest (online) Sephora.

The first thing I was looking for was a nice lipstick, but when I started searching by the best rated items, I came upon Yves Saint Laurent's Volupté Sheer Candy. Yes, that is a mouthful and yes, it does sound a little pretentious. But the reviews were grand and, though I've only picked up a few YSL items in my life, they were always well done.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter: As Smooth as...Wait, That's too Easy

Tamatha

A couple of weeks ago, CVS gave me a coupon for $3 off a Revlon make-up purchase. Those bastards actually figured out one of my weaknesses (took 'em long enough). So last week, before the coupon expired, I took myself to the Revlon section of my local CVS. I briefly considered the nail polishes, but nothing caught my eye, and to be honest, when I received the coupon, I pretty much knew I'd be picking up a lip color of some sort.

As I've mentioned previously, I have a thing for lip stuff. On top of that, I recently went through a lipstick/gloss/tinted balm purge. I cannot tell you how long I'd had some of those lip things, but let's just say that Melody would have been beyond horrified. So clearly, I was overdue on restocking my lip color collection.

Tarte Up Your Lips: Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint

Cindy

I've never been that girl, the one who's addicted to lip glosses, sticks or even balm. Truth be told, I wear make-up pretty rarely...but this just might be the product that changes all that.

Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint is so pretty and soft and lovely, without being sticky or goopy and the colors are grand. You can buy these pencil/gloss hybrids individually at a pricey $29.00 a pop, but I bought a value set that included five colors for the same exact price! Now that's a deal I can justify--never having tried the product before and not knowing what color I liked--this kit allowed me to get a huge bang for my buck. And seriously, this deal is everywhere (Sephora, Tarte, QVC), so why would anyone buy just one?

Do I Look Like A Hooker Or Just An Idiot: NYC Lipstick in Air Kiss

Author: Pinky McLadybits

I'd been sick all week. I hadn't been to Target in that whole week and I decided I should go. They were probably worried about me and losing profits and such. I'm sure they were all beside themselves, wondering what had become of me!

Or not.

Anyway, I went in with a list of butt wipes (what I call those flushable wet wipes for adults), eyebrow waxing kit, a neutral grey nail polish, some lipstick, and some foundation. I got the lipstick, foundation, and butt wipes.

Smooth like Honey- Clinique's Black Honey Almost Lipstick

Author: Figgy

Oh, the nightmare of finding the right shade of lipstick. Surely I can't be the only one who's bought/tried/ultimately ended up gifting tubes of lipstick that felt right at first and then looked like clown makeup on second application, right? And then just ended up buying a harmless shade of lipgloss to use instead? Story of my life.

But I want lipstick, dammit. I want to pretend to be a grown-up lay-dee applying it all sexily before the mirror, all perfect on the first go and not having to correct three or four spots like I usually--I mean, like I never do. Always perfect. So I asked my lovely, expert lady-friends for tips on a good lipstick to try out, and the almost universal choice was Clinique's Black Honey, which was supposed to be perfect for almost all skin shades.
