Pinky's Picks For Oscar Best And Worst

Pinky McLadybits

Oh, Oscars! You always fall right around my birthday and I watch you nearly every year. Every year I am bored, nervous, annoyed, giggly, and awed by the outfits celebrities parade around in. This year was no different. I laughed at Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis with their cymbals and I tittered at Christopher Guest and company (FLYING MONKEYS!). I was ridiculously bored with hot Billy Crystal, finding him wasted with cheesy jokes and idiotic montages. I was crushed by Michelle Williams and Gary Oldman losing in their respective categories and delighted by the only win for the Muppets Movie.

The best part, however, is checking out and eviscerating the dresses when necessary. There were many time that it was very necessary. Can I just say that I HATE the trend of wearing boring white, plain black, nudes, beiges, and other no-colors? Because I really, really do. ONTO THE DRESSES! (All names link back to People Magazine, where I found the photos)

The Sign That Fashion Has Completely Given Up?

Author: Park

Fashion is cyclical.  What this is supposed to mean is that styles from past generations influence future styles in new and intriguing ways.  What it seems to actually mean is that styles come back almost exactly the same as they were when you were a kid, but stupider and more unattractive.  The circular pattern appears to be not so much a life cycle as the imminent approach to a giant drain.  If the pattern continues, in a few years we’ll be walking around in snuggies, but made of the cheapest fabric imaginable and they’ll somehow be cut really slutty.

I couldn't agree more

An Impassioned Defense of Yoga Pants by a Vancouverite

 Author: Replica

CLEARLY Vivian Song hasn’t spent much time in Vancouver, which she recently derided as the 3rd worst dressed city in the world in her recent MSN Travel article.

The focus of her ire was in particular: the Yoga Pant, taking a ‘them that shall remain nameless’ swipe at lululemon, local entrepreneurial powerhouse and yes, I’ll admit it, pioneering ‘lifestyle product’ visionaries.

Ms. Song derides the entire concept of flabby folk wearing soft pants as entirely sub-standard efforts at fashion mastery, but I think she has missed the point entirely.
