Are You Making Your Lists and Checking Them Twice?

MelBivDevoe

Is There a S.P.E.W. for North Pole Elves?

Today marks exactly two weeks until Christmas Eve!  Are you surviving the crowds and whittling down that list?  Here's an idea for your Lego-lovin', Whedon-worshipping friends.  (io9)

If you're trying to find the perfect presents for your foodie friends, Food & Wine has you covered.  Love the mason jar shaker!  (Food & Wine)

Meanwhile, Barbra Streisand is considering gifting the world with her plans to cast Lady Gaga in her  upcoming film production of "Gypsy."  I just want to know if Babs is going to play mama Rose.  That'd be a hell of a double bill!  (AV Club)  (h/t Case)

Who Doesn't Love a Guy in a Suit?

MelBivDevoe

Good morning!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend, dear reader.  I spend a good portion of mine scrolling through this tumblr, Guys in Suits.  It is what is says it is, and it is GLORIOUS.  (Guys in Suits)

The world lost two pioneers over the weekend.  First, Jerry Nelson, who brought such Muppets as Count Von Count to life, passed away at the age of 78.  (Washington Post)

Then, on Saturday, Neil Armstrong, a true American hero who took a "giant leap for mankind" as the first man to walk on the moon, also passed away, at age 82.  What Nelson and Armstrong have in common was how their actions inspired millions, albeit in different ways.   (NY Times)

And on Sunday, Snooki gave birth to a baby boy.  MTV is calling baby Lorenzo the "world's youngest guido."  Oy.  I'd make a snarky comment about MTV being classy, but let's face it, Snooki herself is probably calling him a guido, too.  (People)

There Was Football On Last Night?

Kolby

Yes, of course I watched the Super Bowl, and it was a great game indeed.  Much like your Monday Hot Links, there was action, entertainment, and David Beckham's underpants.  What's not to like?

Here's an interesting write up on how libraries and bookstores have become the new community centers.  Reading it makes me crave a Grande Non-fat, No-whip Caramel Macchiato, though I don't know for certain why.  (New Geography)

The Tea Party is dead?  Oh, let it be true.  I SO need a reason to buy new pumps, and that oughta do.  (The Daily Beast)
