You Can At Least Smell CLEAN If You're Not Going To BE Clean

Author:Lainey

I like things that smell like fresh laundry.  My Bounce lint roller is one of my favorite things, because not only is it functional and removes lint (ok, fine, cat hair.  It removes cat hair), but it also makes me smell like I just walked out of the dryer.  One of the ladies was talking about the CLEAN line of fragrances and it sounded like something I would like, so I bopped over to Sephora.com to check out their product lines.  I settled on a dry shampoo and a deodorant.

Both products smell like laundry detergent/Febreze. Not bad, kind of nice, but maybe a little *too* laundryish if you wear too much or use them both at the same time. The deodorant kind of sucks. It's $10 for a container about half the size of Secret. It's a hard solid and doesn't go on easily. It kind of sticks as you try to apply it (and don't even bother trying if you're a little damp from your shower or from being sweaty). I can't say if it works very well or not, because on the day I used it, it was much cooler than it had been & I didn't really do anything to make me sweaty. It was, however, a pleasant scent if I raised my arms up to mess with my hair or to stretch. Not overwhelming, just a whiff of the detergenty smell.

The dry shampoo has the same scent and comes in a slightly larger bottle (a little less than 4 oz) and was $18, which is pretty pricey. HOWEVER, you won't use it every day and if I'm only using it to fill in the gaps for when I don't want to or don't have time to wash my hair, it may last for a decent amount of time, because you really don't need much. I washed my hair Wednesday night and then on Friday morning I used a couple of squirts (it’s a dry powder, I don’t know if “squirt” is the right word – puff?) of the dry shampoo. It did make my hair a little duller (which I expected), so I sprayed a bit of shine spray on my hair. I didn't wash my hair again until Sunday (yes, people, I still SHOWERED during the week, I just didn’t wash my hair) and it still looked pretty ok. It wasn't greasy at the top & it had a little bit of body to it. Again, not as shiny, but I can live with that if I can get away with not washing my hair for 4 days. I think it will be useful in the winter when my hair is SO dry and brittle & I don't want to use the flat iron more often than necessary.  A little tip I would offer if you have dark hair, squirt (puff?) the dry shampoo powder into your hands first and then run your fingers through your hair.  I found that squirting (puffing? OMG, what do I call it?!) directly on to my scalp made it difficult to blend and it looked very light, like I had dust, in my dark hair.

On the Tentacle Scale - I would give the CLEAN Deodorant 1 tentacle.  It smelled nice, but for $10, it's not even close to being worth it.  The Dry Shampoo would rate 4 tentacles.  Again, it smells nice and laundryish and it does work, but you can find dry shampoos for far less money.

Ratings: DRY SHAMPOO 4/8 tentacles & DEODORANT 1/8 tentacles

  1. I wonder how it would hold up on curly hair... Any thoughts on that? :)
