Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream: Believe In Magic Or I'll Kill You!

Pinky McLadybits

I hadn't heard of BB Cream until Lainey mentioned it to me one day. That's kind of bad to admit, isn't it? The editor of a beauty blog hadn't heard about the newest craze sweeping Asia? I am appropriately embarrassed.

SO! Lainey told me that the BB Cream is supposed to be a wonder product sort of thing. They claim to moisturize, help fight blemishes, even skin tone, and it also has SPF in it.

It is basically touted as the unicorn of beauty products. Wait, that doesn't make sense. It's supposed to be good, okay? But is it?

Well, sort of? My face is uneven in tone, so I was looking forward to fixing that without applying primer, concealer, foundation, and powder. Being a girl is hard work. I decided to choose Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in Light/Medium because I am pale. It was also the least expensive choice in my brief internet price comparison. I didn't want to throw out the cash on something that sounded way too good to be true.

I dutifully washed my face (oil-cleansing method!) and then decided to apply the Garnier BB Cream. I mistakenly thought that the BB Cream was like other tinted moisturizers I've tried. I used too much. You couldn't tell I had too much on, but the cream never really set and would come off on napkins, my hand, anything my face touched. That was gross. I could also feel it sitting on my face. I must say, it did do a decent job of evening out my skin tone. Was it a miracle? Um, no.

It smelled really good, though.

When I decided to use less of the Garnier BB Cream I felt like the coverage wasn't as good. So the trade here is you either have to put a little too much on and use setting powder or you dot it on as suggested, allowing it to dry, but you don't have as even of a skin tone. I am willing to admit that a more expensive brand may solve this problem, though I won't be making that comparison any time soon.

I feel I should also tell you that Lainey thinks this same brand might be the culprit behind her recent breakouts, though she isn't sure that is the case. I would hope that a product that claims to fight blemishes would not be the cause of them, but you never know. As for the Garnier BB Cream, what do I think? I think it is a nice tinted moisturizer for the summer months. I think that it does help even out your skin tone to a certain extent. Does it fight blemishes? I don't know.

  1. I have heard literally nothing good about American-produced bb cream. Try Skin79, a well-loved Korean brand, instead. It's available on Amazon for a song.

  3. I just got some skin79 (the hot pink one) and I am fairly impressed so far. It evens skin tone, doesn't look cakey by 3PM the way my foundation always does, and best of all it doesn't settle into the ginormo pores on my nose.
