Birchbox Treats: Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline Perfume

Pinky McLadybits

Per Lainey's holding it over our heads that she was getting Birchbox goodies every month, I decided to subscribe. If you haven't heard of Birchbox then I am sorry for you. It is a service that, for $10 monthly, sends a box with some samples and some full-sized products. These items are based on their theme for the month and the information you give the company when you fill out your profile.

This month's box was Gossip Girl themed and one of the samples included within was Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline Perfume. Fancy!

The perfume boasts a blend of Bamboo, Nashi, Lotus Flower, and Balsa Wood. Balsa wood? Um, okay. The other things sound good, but I was interested to see whether I would smell like the wood plank section of Home Depot after misting myself in the Omnia Crystalline. Then I wondered why people would pay $64 to smell like home furnishings.

Anyway, I had been thinking about purchasing myself a new perfume and this sample provided something new to test. I spritzed it on one wrist and then rubbed my other wrist on that. That one spritz was plenty of scent, let me tell you. When my husband arrived home hours later, he was still able to sniff the fragrance on my wrists and he has a horrible sense of smell. The Omnia Crystalline is very flowery while still being heavier than most flower perfumes.

I don't know how to describe perfumes properly, but I'll try. You know how your grandma (at least my grandma) smells when she gets dressed up for church? It's a comforting smell, strong and somewhat powdery? It makes you think of department stores and flowers? Perhaps it makes you think about hugging her and the smell taking you to that place where you feel safe and a bit like you could probably score some sort of awesome toy if you played your cards right? That's what Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline smells like to me. My grandma getting dressed in her Sunday best and giving me a hug, the perfume filling my nostrils with a sort of comfort. That's nice. But it isn't me.

Perhaps when I am older this perfume will appeal to me. As it stands I will be passing the sample along to my mother.

Rating: 5/8 tentacles

  1. I feel the same way about my sample! Except I keep wearing it because I'm out of my regular perfume.

  2. I got this one in my Birchbox, too, and it was ok. It wasn't offensive, but yeah, it does have an older woman quality to it that I didn't really realize until I read this. Good call.

PS: You are a thieving point thief!
