Take Charge (Of Your Hair!): John Frieda Frizz-Ease

MelBivDevoe

When it comes to hair styling, I'm a complete novice.  My mother has always had a short, no-nonsense haircut, and I don't have any sisters, so I didn't grow up watching anyone work on their hair.  My friends in high school weren't into trading makeup and hair tips - we would rather go play tennis or watch movies.  I've been straightening my wavy hair since high school, not so much because I preferred the look but more to get it under control.  So, when I was in college, and a friend asked me why I never put any product into my hair to turn the waves into curls, my first reaction was, "I can do that?"  (Ah, to be young and naive again.)

Lucky for me, my friend knew exactly what I needed.  She introduced me to John Frieda's  Frizz Ease Take Charge Curl-Boosting Mousse, and I've been using it ever since.

The Take Charge Mousse is perfect for a neophyte such as myself - it's super easy to use.  You just apply to damp hair and then dry as desired.  The mousse causes curls to spring back into shape, turning wilted waves into tight spirals.  It also contains ingredients to fight frizz and create shine.  And the curls last for days between washes.

I've found that when it comes to this product, less is better.  Apply too much and you're left with sticky curls that can leave you looking slightly greasy.  When it comes to drying your curls, the less you touch your hair after applying the mousse, the better.  The more you fuss over trying to create the perfect ringlets, the more you're just likely to smoosh your curls and create frizz.  Just follow the simple directions - spray a small amount into your palm, run the product through your hair, and then dry by air or with a diffuser, and watch your hair go from frizzy and lifeless to bouncy and shiny!

I give John Frieda's Curl-Boosting Mousse 7 out of 8 tentacles.   It's available wherever hair and beauty products are sold, in stores like Target or online from sites such as Drugstore.com, for around $6 for 7.2 ounces.

Rating: 7/8 tentacles
