Rusty's Sample Roulette: BritePrepFX Primer

Rusty

I order from Sephora kind of a lot. Because of this I have a giant box of samples just hanging out, waiting to be used. This… is… SAMPLE ROULETTE. Due to the brief nature of the use, I will assign ratings as 0 (stay away) 4 (I liked it, but didn’t love it) or 8 (love it and will probably be dropping my own money on it in short order). Enjoy!

One of these days I will just submit and buy a foundation primer, but as long as Sephora keeps sending me them for free I’ll keep using those tiny packets and tubes for every last bit of product I can squeeze out of them. The good news about this is that I get to use foundation primer I could never afford. And realize it’s generally not worth it.

BritePrep FX is a primer that claims to brighten skin and features SPF 50. For the SPF 50, it could be useful in summer but using it I saw no evidence of skin brightening that was apparent once I’d put foundation and powder on. Additionally, I have some dry skin on my face and one of the things I’d like primer to do is help mask that fact and this didn’t. The ends of the peeling skin I had around my nose was still visible through the primer, foundation, and powder. (When I got very close to the mirror. But still.)

I could see this being worth getting for the SPF 50 in it, but because the primer isn’t very… prime-y and the stuff costs $45 for an ounce that fact doesn’t save it for me. I’d rather have a lower sun protection factor in a better primer or just buy separate sunblock and primer rather than use a two in one that delivers disappointing results.

I’m giving this 0 out of 8. I was disappointed in how it worked and don’t plan on buying it in the future.

Rating: 0/8 tentacles

  1. I *just* tried this one today! It actually worked really well on me, and I think it might be better than the other primer I've tried (the Sephora brand they keep sending me for free). I had no idea it was that expensive, though. I'll try it a couple more times just to see how well it works in the long run.

But holy hell, why are primers so damn expensive?? And they come in tiny tiny bottles. It's a scam.
