MelBivDevoe's Wish List

MelBivDevoe

1.  Cute Animal Slippers:

I love nothing more than to come home after a long day of standing on my feet at work, slip off my shoes, and slide my feet into a soft, plushy pair of slippers.  And if said slippers happen to be cute animals?  Well, that's all the better.  Penguins are my favorite animal, so I love these penguin slippers that are available on Amazon for $24.99.

2.  Totoro Hat:

As my choice of slippers shows, I like cute accessories.  Which brings me to the next item on my wish list - the Totoro Hat sold on Amazon for $14.48.  For those who aren't fans of anime, Totoro is a character from Hayao Miyazaki's "My Neighbor Totoro."  So it's a hat that will keep my head warm with a touch of whimsy - perfect!

3.  James Hance T-Shirt:

James Hance is an immensely talented artist with a penchant for pop culture mash-ups.  His work is full of geeky delights - Chewbacca as Winnie the Pooh, the Muppets as Firefly characters,  Doctor Who as James Bond, and so on.  I love his Boober Vs. the World t-shirt - an excellent mash of my favorite movie of 2010, "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World" and Boober from the Muppets.  It's only $25.62 on Hance's website.  Honestly, I'd love to own any of his work!

4.  Star Wars Pancake Molds:

I love pancakes.  I love Star Wars.  So I love these Star Wars Heroes and Villains pancake molds from Williams-Sonoma.  You can make Yoda 'cakes, for crying out loud! For $19.95, you get a set of three: Yoda, Darth Vader, and a stormtrooper.

5.  Magic Wand TV Remote:

There are a lot of things about the world of Harry Potter that I wish were real - Time Turners, for instance, would be super handy - but more than anything, I think I'd want a magic wand.  ThinkGeek, a site where I spend a LOT of time browsing for geeky toys, is selling this Magic Wand Programmable TV Remote ($89.99) that works on basically anything you use a remote for - TVs, DVD players, etc.  Just think how much fun it would be to use!  I wonder what spell you'd utter to turn the TV on?

6.  Belkin FastFit Armband for iPhone:

I've never been a big fan of exercising.  But the older I get, the more important it is to stay in shape.  Listening to music definitely helps get me moving, and I have several apps on my iPhone to help me with my workout, so I need a way to carry my phone around easily.  I love this little Belkin FastFit Armband, available for $34.95 on Apple.com, that is perfectly fitted to all iPhone 4 and 4S models.

7.  Professional Ion Steam Hairsetter:

This is the one and only girly gift idea you'll find on my list.  I want to expand my current arsenal of hairstyling tools (which currently consists of a flat iron and one small-barreled curling iron).  The Professional Ion Steam Hairsetter curler set from Caruso looks like the perfect way for me to experiment and try to put some oompf back into my hair.  It retails at Ulta for $44.99.

 8.  Butterfly Earrings:

Are you trying to find jewelry for a really picky lady?  Someone who knows exactly what she wants but can never find it at stores?  Then I highly recommend you check out Etsy to find the perfect gift.  I have a hard time finding jewelry I like when I'm out shopping, but I can always find something by searching the handmade and vintage markets on the site.  And, bonus, a lot of the sellers are independent artists, so by purchasing from them, you're helping the community.  Who doesn't love helping others at Christmas time?  As for my wish list, I'd love to get these gorgeous Morpho butterfly earrings ($45.00) this year.

9.  Asher's Chocolates:

This one's a no brainer.  Chocolate is an easy gift for someone with a sweet tooth.  You can go with the usual Godiva or Gertrude Hawk fare, or, you can check out local chocolatiers.  I like to support my community shops, and we have several in our area, but my favorite Pennsylvania sweet shop has to be Asher's Chocolates.  They make the most delicious chocolate-covered marshmallow and caramel treats that I've ever had - I'm actually drooling thinking about them.  They're sold by the pound online - $14.95 for 1 pound.  Asher's is available in some retail stores on the East Coast - Boscov's, Bed, Bath & Beyond - or, if you're up for a trip, you can visit their factory in Souderton (south of Allentown).  But thanks to their online store, you don't have to go anywhere to enjoy their scrumptious sweets.

10.  Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label:

Nothing better than a bottle of bubbly to go with my chocolates.  Hell, I don't even need the chocolates, I'll just take the champagne.  Happy holidays! (Available wherever wine is sold.  Prices vary.)
