CoverGirl LashBlast Lengths Mascara: CLASH OF LASH(es)

Pinky McLadybits

Full disclosure: I have a brother-in-law that works for Procter & Gamble. He brings bags of goodies to family get-togethers. Like Thanksgiving. Does that mean that I'll kiss the product's butt and lie to you about it? Um, no. No it doesn't. He doesn't work in sales anyway. Ahem.

So, one of the many things I snatched was given from the bag of goodies was this CoverGirl LashBlast Length in Very Black. I already have mascara, but the price of FREE and the ability to review the product for you guys was enough incentive to give it a try. You may also remember that Nora already reviewed this product. Will I feel the same about it? WILL IT BE A CLASH OF THE LASHES?!? I dunno.

Just remember, I'll never break your heart. I'll never make you cry...baby, that's no lie.
It's nice that the mascara comes with a cap on it instead of the brush already in the tube. It allows you to see that the wand is long and thin, and has rigid bristles. It also lets you see just how coated with mascara the wand becomes after being put in the tube. It starts yellow and then is coated completely with mascara. That's good.

My lashes were completely naked the first time I used LashBlast Length. The things I do for SCIENCE! The wand wasn't clumpy or saturated with mascara when I pulled it out of the tube for the first time. I didn't need to blot it on anything, which is great. The wand is very good at separating the lashes and keeping them clump-free. However, I felt like I had to coat my lashes about four or five times just to get an acceptable amount of color on my pale lashes. That's kind of annoying and I still didn't get the dark black lashes that I prefer. ULTA's Lash Icon gives me really dark lashes with a few clumps I have to comb out. I'd rather deal with clumps than not getting the end result I want.

My lashes are also already really long. When I wear my glasses they hit the lenses and make me crazy. I wondered what effect the LashBlast would have on my lashes. Would they get Kardashian-fake lash-long? Uh, no. They still look the same as they do with my Lash Icon, lengthwise. That's disappointing, since Length is right there in the name and I would expect it to at least deliver on that end. I don't know how it would work out for shirt-lashed individuals, but Nora seems to like it fine for everyday use. I suppose it isn't too bad for everyday, but I really prefer darker lashes all of the time. I likely won't buy more of this when I run out. It isn't for me, but it would be perfectly serviceable for someone with already dark lashes or less dramatic daily demands.

  1. OH IT'S ON.

Just kidding. I have darker lashes, and I get the same lashes-smushed-against-eyewear effect too, so I sort of like this mascara's "barely there" effect. I didn't consider how it would be for someone with lighter lashes, but this totally makes sense (my sister is a redhead and she usually goes with thicker, darker formulas for similar reasons).
