Who Doesn't Like Tinted Lip Balm?: Badger Lip Tint & Shimmer

Author: Tamatha

You may remember that I have a slight lip balm addiction. In addition to meaning that I must be no more than two feet away from a lip balm at all times, this addiction also means that lipsticks and I have a problem. They just disappear. Or, if I'm really lucky, I end up looking like I'm wearing only lip liner (and too much of it too boot). Note: no lip liner has actually been applied to my lips, but the lipstick has seemingly migrated to just the edges of my lips--lovely! At the same time, I'm often drawn to lipsticks (they're less of a "commitment" than other forms of make-up) and I own far more than any woman who rarely wears the stuff probably should. What can I say? Hope (or perhaps delusion) springs eternal.

Enter Badger Lip Tint & Shimmer. I had tried other tinted lip balms in the past with not great success. I don't really remember why. Perhaps they had that dreaded peppermint oil? I think it was that, and they just didn't look great on me. Anyway, last year, while at (yes, you guessed it!) the local natural foods store, I pointed out to the Main Squeeze the Badger Lip Tint & Shimmers as a good potential stocking stuffer (hint, hint). And what did I find in my stocking Christmas morning? The Lip Tint & Shimmer I had pointed out. Yay!

The Badger Lip Tint & Shimmers are called that because they are two lip balms in one. On one end is a tinted lip balm (mine is Red Jasper) and at the other end is a subtly sparkly "shimmer" lip balm in a shade called Opal. The lip balms themselves are quite nice, with a subtle chocolate scent (from the Fair Trade cocoa butter). They are nicely creamy and make your lips feel very soft. And they have good staying power.

The tinted balm provides good coverage and great color. The shimmer is sheer and could easily be worn as your regular lip balm--especially if you want to add a little sparkle to your day--like I said, it's pretty subtle. You can, of course, layer the two balms for a mix of color and sparkle. One tube: three options! In case you're wondering, they come in four shades: Red Jasper/Opal, Rose Tourmaline/Opal, Garnet/Opal, and Copper/Opal.

A look at the ingredient list is reassuring; nothing scary--all ingredients are totally recognizable, non-chemical-y substances: the sort of stuff you can feel good about putting on your lips. And the color comes from certified organic mineral tints. As you'd probably expect, it's not tested on animals. So yep, win all around.

I definitely recommend the Badger Lip Tint & Shimmer. The benefits of a lipstick (pretty-colored lips!) combined with the benefits of a great lip balm (which you can apply every five minutes like someone we know).

8 out of 8 tentacles, because it's the best tinted lip balm that I've tried. I think I'll ask for the Copper one this Christmas...

Rating: 8/8 tentacles

  1. Yo T: Does this stuff have beeswax in it, or is it only shea butter based? Thanks homeslice.
