I've always had problems with soaps and bath gels. My skin is finicky as hell, and anything stronger than baby wash will make it dry, flaky and itchy. I've always needed to slather lotion on my whole body after a shower. So after trying a million different products that promised 'soft' and 'gentle' but still felt like washing my body with lye, I needed something new.
And then I walked into the Body Shop, saw that they had soap-less shower gels (that were at the time on discount, obviously) and bought a whole bunch of them to try.
First of all, they smell amazing. I bought the Mango, Sweet Lemon, Grapefruit, and Clementine scents. I'm a huge fan of citrusy, fruity scents and these were beautifully strong without being cloying or overly sweet (though I should tell you to smell the Lemon before you buy it, as it is very strong) I also liked that I could still smell a faint wiff of the fruity scents after I toweled off. The gels actually contain essential oils from the fruits, so the scent is natural and fresh.
The absolute best part of the gels is that they worked a miracle on my skin. Though I still need to put on a small bit of lotion in certain places, I've noticed myself using a lot less of it since I started using these. I'm no expert, but I'd guess it's because of the lack of strong chemicals and soap.
As a plus, the Body Shop boasts of using free-trade ingredients (such as their lemon oil) in their products, which is pretty nice.
The non-discount price is a little higher than I'd usually be willing to pay for shower gel ($8 for 8.4 ounces) but like I said above, I just can't go back to anything I've used before. I even tried using my old shower gel one day and my skin felt so awful that I decided to buy two more bottles of Body Shop gel right away.
The Body Shop Shower Gels get a resounding 8 tentacles from me. They smell amazing and will work wonders on your skin. My favorite by far is the Mango (it actually smells like mango!), with the Lemon being the one I probably wouldn't buy again. They're just wonderful at waking you up for an early-morning shower. I can't wait to try out their other scents.

Ooh, I love Body Shop stuff--recently tried the coconut shower cream, and I just adore it. So nice and moisturizing, and smells delightful. Highly recommend it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to buy more, though I think I'll have to get most of them online, my store carries the citrusy smells but not many of the others.
